Wow! That looks exactly like our neighbor Kay Politano's potcake! We're forwarding this post to her.

Thanks!

Thats cool Judy. Do you think those test are accurate? Wonder how far back down the bloodline they can tell if so. Her silhouette on the beach looks just like my Olive.

I dont mean to answer for Judy but i think you could go to any pet store and get that info, i hear it cost about 75usd.
It would be neat to know but i like to think my olive is purebred Potcake and i wouldnt want to be disappointed.

It's amazing how Potcakes have many similar traits, but they are pretty much a "purebred" mutt (mixed) breed! In fact, our Potcake, Peaches, is listed as a "mixed breed" on her vet records. I keep trying to get them to change it to "Potcake," but they won't do it.

I would suspect that a true Royal Potcake must come from at least five bloodlines, including various breeds of Her Majesty's guard dogs, water dogs, and various "poofy" breeds. Genetically, these are far superior to any single breed, having less behavioral and medical problems by far. Please support the Abaco potcake relocation/adoption programs and your local humane society.

We brought our puppy potcakes back to the States a few years ago. The vet asked the breed, we proudly said "Royal Bahamian Potcake", to which he replied "Ah, a Heinz 57. Now that's a good dog!"

Turns out he's an avid bone fisherman and knew Abaco and her dogs quite well!

Cheers -- Al
